Harry is proud to dedicate this page to The Mayflower Sanctuary, at Bawtry, near Doncaster in the U.K. where Tilly, Dylan and Charlie were all homed before finding their forever home with Harry and his family. The work carried out by Jennie and the staff at The Mayflower are a shining example of the dedication and care shown by those wonderful people around the world who devote so much of their time and energy into rescuing and finding loving homes for the many unwanted, abused or abandoned dogs that are so sadly a factor of modern society. Without their dedication and hard work so many of those unfortunate animals would probably end up being destroyed and denied their right to a loving, caring home and fulfilled life. HARRY'S OWN 'MAYFLOWER DOGS'
TILLY DYLAN CHARLIE
June 6th 2003 was a landmark for the volunteers of Animals In Need 2000, a charity formed by a small group of like-minded people who just wanted to make a difference. After 4 long years of laughter, tears, and endless hours of fund-raising, our dream had become a reality.
The Mayflower Sanctuary, Narrow Lane, Bawtry, Doncaster had been born. Although not the prince of facilities, we have the vision and the will to restore, repair and rebuild. Now several years later, the Sanctuary is going from strength to strength. Where an old caravan and 4 concrete garages stood, not forgetting the outside tap and lack of toilet, we now have two beautiful ‘dog houses’ with underfloor heating. Mod cons including kitchen and office. Plans for a cattery and puppy block sit in the drawer! Just in case !!
In 2007 we rescued and rehomed over 400 dogs and 90 cats. Our vet bill alone was £33,000 !! Without your support and donations this would have been impossible to achieve.
Like many Rescue’s we can tell endless stories of sadness and heartache, sights we would rather forget - but most have a happy ending.

Lizzie came to us from a Council pound, painfully thin, hardly any hair, very frail and unhappy.
After much treatment and lots of TLC she is now once again a happy and pain free dog, with a full coat. Lizzie’s age is against her as with so many of the dogs that come into our care. Lizzie will stay with us or in a foster home for the rest of her days. A ‘Support-a-dog’ scheme helps with the on-going treatment of dogs like Lizzie.
Every dog and cat is neutered and vaccinated before leaving us for their new home. All potential homes are visited by a volunteer to make sure the right pet is chosen by the right family. Dogs and cats come to us for many reasons, many financial, homeless, some abandoned and unwanted. Whatever the reason it is not their fault and they deserve a loving home with responsible people. Not much to ask for is it !!!
If you would like to help, there are many ways. Become a volunteer, help fund raise, collect old towels and blankets to keep the dogs and cats warm. A small donation monthly by standing order, no matter how small, or remembering the homeless and neglected animals in your will would be so important to them and us.
It’s their future we need to secure. We cannot continue without your help. Do come and visit us and see the work we do. Please help us to make a difference.
Looking forward to seeing you soon.
